OnSpain School has a specialized Spanish training programme for non native teachers and provides more content information in this post. After many years of visits to our school and supporting students with their language learning, Onspain has decided to pay homage to these MFL teachers and design a course specifically for them.
The objective of this program is to strengthen Spanish knowledge and grammar use of non native teachers, giving you the confidence to teach any pupil at any level. During this course, teachers will receive excellent teaching material, based on dynamic and technical methods used online. We have designed this program for teachers from various countries so they can share their experiences and enhance their academic exchanges.
The course will consist of 4 Training Sessions:
1. Grammatical Boot Camp
This course is structured into various grammar sessions where we go over several basic Spanish Language Topics:
– Expression of Assumption.
– Periphrasis of the infinitive, gerund and participle.
– The Subjunctive: rules and exceptions.
– The Conditional.
– Adverbs, conjunctions and interjections, prepositions.
– The differences between Spanish grammatical structures and the Anglo-Saxons, as a way of exploring the use of Castilian in natural language. We study these linguistic differences on an oral and written level.
– Development of conversation.
2. New methods and teaching techniques and innovative materials
You will be introduced to the new teaching possibilities that the internet has to offer: blogs, youtube videos, moodle, webquests (tools that guide you through working online) the website Hot Potato, etc. We will show you how to grab the student’s attention with techniques to overcome shyness and talk in class.
It is considered an intensive course which will allow us to deepen issues of intercultural communication, exchanges through the internet, etc.
3. Professional Sessions
With our program we can start to share ideas with professional partners and exchange experiences associated with methods and techniques that you can use in class and that are used already in other countries. In addition, there will be a presentation of projects that emphasize the role of the teacher and we will look at the possibility of creating an association of teachers at an international level. What advantages could this hold?
Revision session with experts- Lead by a moderator you will debate the different issues related to teaching Spanish as a foreign language and how to help the understanding of teaching materials for students from different cultures.
4. Cultural Themes
Various lessons and excursions will take place outside of the classroom to capture the essence of true Spanish culture. We will visit, alongside an expert, the Mezquita de Cordoba to learn about Arab art and its influence in Andalucía. In Malaga we will get to know the history of the city through a game trial using photos. During your stay we will taste the typical food from the area discovering the secrets of the Mediterranean kitchen. Finally, we will analyse the Spanish education system and its differences with the rest of the education systems through a session with Spanish teachers.
